Tips appearing in Multi choice question on Course Presentation

Hi there,

I am using the course presentation and have included multi choice questions.

Often I am seeing the "tip" icon for the answers when I have never put any info in the tips feild during set up. When I select the "tip" in view mode it is blank but there is still a field? Obviously, I don't want these blank tips through my presentation.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi BV52,  thanks for the fast reply!

Here are my responses.

1. Using the course presentation feature, adding background (jpg) images and a single multi choice q on a slide (no tips). I then continued to copy this slide (modify it) and copy again, so on and so fourth. 15 slides total. (However the tips aren't connected to the same answer "position" (eg. a)) in every slide.) The responses are also set to randomize.

2. I have used the H5p website, internet explorer v11. I also see the tips when I open the website in Firefox. I have also uploaded to moodle via downloading/uploading into H5P editor and the tips still appear in the same places (slide3 onwards).

3. desktop.

4. see 2.

5. n/a

6. Course presentation. URL: https://h5p.org/node/192403

Look forward to the help :)

Hi Brigette,

I am still unable to reproduce the issue on my end creating the content here or in Moodle. Does this issue happen everytime you create a content (starting from scratch)? If so what is the version Moodle?

The good news is that I was able to fix your content. I uploaded the fixed content.

HI BV52,

I attempted to make more of these questions. I did not have any strange tips in these tests.

Do you have any idea where they came from?

Can I ask what you did to fix it?

Thanks

Brigette

Hi BV52

My mistake I did see the tips appearning in one instance (The first test I did).

  1. Open H5P website in Internet explorer v11.

  2. Create new Course Pres

  3. Add 1 MCQ.

  4. Enter question info.

  5. Do not even click the Tips button.

  6. Result: 1 tip appearing on option b.

    1. Note* The tip has appeared on the answer that is marked correct.

    2. Refreshed the “View” page, (the answers are set to shuffle) the tip has stayed on the same answer “Kangaroo”, not it’s location in the answer set.

I will re-do this method and see if it happens again.

Hi Brigette,

Thank you for the additional information. I fixed the content by clicking inside the tip box and pressing delete. I tried pressing cmd+A to check if it will highlight something (possibly a "space") to no avail. I'm not sure where the issue is coming from but there is one main difference in our system. I am using a Mac hence I can't use IE, I did try to repro this using Firefox, Safari or Chrome and failed. One suggestion that I have is to use a different browser on your system - first to check if the issue will persist and second if it doesn't as a workaround. Please post here the results of the test so that we can isolate the issue.

Hi BV52.,

I have done some further tests to try and isolate this issue. Is there a way I can give you a .csv and word doc?

Cheers,

Brigette

Hi Brigette,

Would you mind uploading the file through a file sharing service like Dropbox or Google Drive and provide the link to us.

-BV52

What is the email address for me to share this with on google drive? Thanks

Hi BV52,

I've made a publick link here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1m4VJQTH63e-nxqI15PK_mN64fV70e-oh

If you look at the word doc first you can see what I aimed to test, the excel doc is a record of what happened as I attempted different things.

Cheers,

Brigette

I think i've worked out where the tips are prevalent for me (internet explorer), but who knows? they may be caused by something else. Hopefully we can work it out as this is a fantastic and popular tool.

Hi Brigette,

Wow that is a very thorough test you did. I have filed a bug report so that the core team could take a look at it, you can follow the progress here. Temporarily use a different browser in creating CP contents.
