H5P content type icons missing

Hello,

in the H5P packages of the following content types, the icon.svg file is missing:

  • Find Multiple Hotspots
  • Image Juxtaposition
  • Personality Quiz
  • Audio

I have detected it from moodle. Moodle periodically downloads the updated content types and all the types, except for those indicated, have their corresponding icon. On the other hand, in the types indicated above, the icons are missing and what I find different is that the H5P package does not have the icon.svg file. It would be ideal if you could add these icons. It helps to identify the H5P contents at a glance.

You can check it from demo.moodle.net:

  • Go to demo.moodle.net, login as a test user (credentials on the login page).
  • Enter a trial course.
  • Access the content bank from the main options of the course.
  • Create a H5P content of the indicated types.
  • Check that for the indicated types it does not load a specific icon, but for any other type it does.
  • Also: if you go to h5p.org and download types from the reuse button, you will see how those without icons do not include icon.svg and the rest do.

I attach a screenshot where you can see how for the accordion content type, it shows its own icon, while for the rest of the indicated ones, a generic H5P icon.

Thank you,

Regards

H5P content type icon.svg missing: Find Multiple Hotspots, Image Juxtaposition, Personality Quiz, Audio

Hi!

Image Juxtaposition has its image right here at https://github.com/otacke/h5p-image-juxtaposition/blob/master/icon.svg, but H5P Group is serving an old and outdated version (1.4.1 instead of the latest 1.5.3).

Personality Quiz and Find Multiple Hotspots were also contributed by 3rd parties and not created by the H5P core team who does not have write access to the repositories and would need to serve their own fork - something that they probably don't want to do. Personality Quiz may be adopted by me soon, however, and the suggested update does not only have more features and less bugs - but it also has an icon, too. Please cmp. https://www.olivertacke.de/labs/2023/11/10/refurbishing-personality-quiz/

Audio in fact also lacks the icon.

All this would not be a problem at all though, if moodle's custom H5P integration (created by moodle HQ not by H5P Group) would fetch the icon from the server that it gets the content types from, too - just like all the other H5P integrations do.

Best,

Oliver

Hi,

ok, I think ideally the packages should always include the icon, but I understand what you're saying. I will try to report it to moodle to see if they can get the icons in that other way, so that it doesn't depend on whether the package includes it or not.

thanks for your time

Regards!

Hi!

Don't get me wrong. I fully agree that the repository should contain an icon, because you do not necessarily install the content type via the H5P Hub, but by uploading libraries.

Copying the icon from the H5P Hub is a viable fallback option however, and very simple to do. Moodle fetches the JSON response for available content types from the H5P Hub server anyway, and that JSON response also contains the path to the icon.

Best,

Oliver

I have created a pull request for Audio, see https://github.com/h5p/h5p-audio/pull/93 that would add the missing icon there.

So, to summarize:

Hello, ok, yes, I understood what you meant. Thank you very much for the information and for your time.

Regards!

Hello,

It has disappeared all the Contents Types  from my account on h5p.org, except:

True/false

Advent Calendar

Game map

What can I do to use all of them again?

Kind regards.

Marga

Hi Marga,

To provide the best possible experience for new users and to ensure that people use H5P.org only for trying out H5P (we've had more traffic than our server can handle lately, ref also the warnings when you create content, embed content and view the content) there are limited content types that are available.

Check the getting started page for information on how you can use all the content types and use H5P for real. We unfortunately are not able to provide free hosting, only free software :) Hopefully you'll consider supporting the H5P Core Team by using H5P.com.

Does it mean that I have to pay to create new content? I would understand, it is to clarify the options.

Regards.

Marga.

Hi Marga,

As I mentioned this site is intended to test the most basic features of H5P. If you want to use all the content types you can either use the free plugin and host your own contents. Or you can sign up for a license in H5P.com.
