Description

This content type generates random arithmetic quizzes in a flash. As an author, all you have to do is decide the type and length of the quiz. Users keep track of score and time spent when solving the quiz.

Can't find Arithmetic Quiz

I can't seem to find the Arithmetic Quiz option when i add new h5p content. It doesn't show up in the list. I'm using the wordpress plugin (latest version). Can anyone help me out with it. I'm a (starting) teacher and really excited to use the Arithmetic Quiz. :)

I don't know much about coding everything i do is trial and error. :)

If you download the example

If you download the example above you upload it to your site using upload instead of create, and your site will learn to create arithmetic quizzes :) The download button is a small button at the bottom left of the example content.

I think the Hello World Tutorial could be useful. Make sure you've set up your development environment correctly so that H5P actually reads you changes to the semantics file.

Increase Complexity

This is a great Maths starter and revision exercise, many thanks.

Any plans to allow teachers to increase the difficulty level of the questions?

Math complexity

Hi Jim,

There are no immidiate plans for doing that in the immediate future. I was playing with the idea of creating a new content type with support for MathML. But that would earliest happen sometime next year when I have time.

If someone in the community wants to make a more difficult version, they have a good starting point in the current content type. And it might be a fun side project. They can feel free to ask me for some tips too. :)

Upload Moodle

I didn't have this option on the moodle plug-in so downloaded this example and tried uploading it as suggested so that it would learn how to create them...however I keep getting this message...Can anyone help me out?

Note that the libraries may exist in the file you uploaded, but you're not allowed to upload new libraries. Contact the site administrator about this.

It seems like you do not have the correct permissions to upload new libraries, as the error message says. You should contact the site administrator so he can elevate your privileges, or make the administrator upload the library. Alternatively if you are the site administrator you should check that the permission system is working properly.

When I try to load the aritmeticquiz library I cause an unsuccessful extension error and the math quizzes were active until a few days ago I suddenly did not show up I removed the tests and the library thinking it was damaged but now I can not recharge it while I tried to load other libraries and they did not make any mistakes

If you are asking if you can add your own questions to the arithmetic quiz it is not possible as of the moment. You try other quiz types such as Fill in the Blanks or Single Choice Set to create your own quizzes. You can also use Quiz (Question Set) which include different types of quiz contents.

Excellent H5P activity ... my question is: can we change the range ; I want to use it in a range of math classes ... from beginners using single digit numbers only to intermediary using more than 2 digits per number. Different difficulties

Is it possible to select (for example) what multiplication will be shown in the arithmetic quiz. Like showing only the multiplication of the 5 series.1 x 5 = 5, 2 x5 = 10......

And for addition only show sums till 10 or 100 or 1000. Having these optional options to turn on and off / or choose would give this content type more possibilities. It is a bit bland right now.

I agree the content needs more than what can offer. Would you mind posting your suggestion in the Feature Request forum. We’re now working on something called the H5P supporter program allowing the H5P community to vote for and fund the top voted H5P features. Also there are developers in the community who every now and then works on a feature they find interesting or useful. In order for your feature request to attract as much interest as possible make sure it follows the below guidelines:

It is clear from every perspective how the feature will work. We recommend describing the feature with one or more user stories, for instance “As an author I want it to be possible to pick between different effects for the check answer animation so that the learners will see a variety of effects and also I can adapt the effects to my target audience(I’ll be using pink unicorns which works really well for both my target audience which are 4 year old girls and venture capitalists)”
If the feature can be illustrated with images or videos it always helps
Make it clear what content types this is relevant for, and or if this is a new content type

Ypu have a point that this content lacks flexibility. It is actually one of the first content types that was created and there have not been any updates to it for quite some time. But I think there are other contents that can be used to substitute for this contents. You can try using Single Choice Set or Question Set.

In fact, I have to produce an interactive course under MOODLE for my students. I have seen that
– first, moodle is missing a user friendly interface to develop a complex task as mine, and
– second, I have seen that I can insert H5P materials in my moodle environment, I said, well sounds great !
The only point is that I start from scratch in H5P (I know HTML, I already built some pages under it)... I work on Mac OS X and would like to know how to install a "good" H5P environment.
Do I undertake the right path when I think that H5P is the right way for making a "good" moodle course ?

Hi Daniel,

The H5P content types are has its own editor and you pretty much don't need to touch the code not unless you have some specific things that need to remove/add. If you haven't installed the plugin yet you can visit this page for more details. Please note also that H5P is open source so if you need to make changes you are welcome to do so. This documentations can provide some tips in doing this.

problems in compiling...

In fact, the H5P plugin is correctly installed on the moodle platform I use in my university...
My question concerns the configuration of tools on my computer in order to compile GitHub examples... I get lots of errors probably due to a bad configuration of npm and note. This was the sense of my question...
Any hint on how to do this in a neat way ? I am on OS X El capitan. Thank's for the help

Can please elaborate on what exactyly tou are trying to do? Are you trying to make changes to the existing content type? The H5P plugin is self contained and you don't need to separately build anything using npm and download somethin from github.
